Dott. Stefano Cotugno Psychotherapist

ABOUT
I’m Stefano Cotugno, born in Livorno in January 1968. Since my childhood, I have found myself living in different environments across Italy, discovering time and again how to adapt and evolve. In my heart, I hold qualities and characteristics from my hometown, such as curiosity, resilience, tolerance, the search for balance, and a healthy sense of humour (both in relation to myself and to power). I graduated in “Community and Organisational Psychology” from the University of Florence and furthered my studies and interests in psychological therapy through a four-year training programme at the Family Systemic Psychotherapy School of the Heteropoiesis Research Centre. Since 1989, I have practised and developed a deep passion for meditation in its various forms: vipassana, satori, and dynamic meditation. I have encountered several teachers and masters, explored Gestalt therapy, bioenergetics, rebirthing breathwork, and the mindful approach to emotions. In 1999, thanks to a life-changing meeting with Bert Hellinger, I found in Family Constellations a method that integrates Western and Eastern perspectives within the therapeutic journey.

Various workshops on couples and parenting have enriched my journey as a therapist, nurturing my curiosity about the role of “crisis” as an opportunity for growth and transformation, with a particular focus on the individual within their most significant relationships. I write articles on Relational Systemic Psychotherapy for the magazine “La mente pensante” (“The Thinking Mind”) and collaborate with the Logos school of psychotherapy. In my free time, I enjoy writing haikus, which I love to publish on my blog. I also enjoy travelling around the world (India, Nepal, Central America...) and have a genuine love for cycling. But these are more than just hobbies: I consider them true companions in life, from which I gain valuable experiences that often push me outside of my comfort zones. In this continuous growth and evolution, I cannot fail to mention my clients, with whom I share an intense and profound therapeutic experience, discovering new, vital keys to understanding with them, which help us navigate the vast sea that is existence.
